Thanks to the folks at USFWS and the Friends of the Upper Misissippi Fishery Services for hosting the KAMO Informational Meeting on Tuesday, September 20th. Three KAMO members – Mark Walters, Dan Berry, and Jeff Neitzel and Misssissipppi Valley Conservancy Outreach Coordinator Kathy Frise spoke about their passion for partnering to start a KAMO chapter in the La Crosse area. The KAMO people spoke about how the organization began and told several stories about the impact KAMO has had on the youth in the communities KAMO already served. Several people who attended the meeting signed on as potential youth mentors. These new potential members plan to meet with the existing La Crosse area KAMO people – Kathy Frise and Mike Brown, in October to plan ways they can grow awareness of the organization, form a local four person officer group (necessary to start the chapter), and plan some initial mentoring activities.
